The Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity will be hosting their annual Faith Partners Event on March 8-9, 2027. This special two day event will include a six part documentary called When Faith Calls. The series explores how faith shaped the life, legacy and leadership of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
A luncheon will be held the next day with speaker Dr. Bernice A. King in partnership with the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, also known as the King Center.
Dr. Bernice A. King is the CEO of the King Center. Her mother, Coretta Scott King, founded the center in 1968. The center serves as both a memorial to Martin Luther King Jr. and as a “programmatic” nonprofit. Corretta Scott King said she envisioned, “No dead monument, but a living memorial filled with all the vitality that was his, a center of human endeavor, committed to the causes for which he lived and died.”
The King Center offers education and training in Nonviolence360, an initiative pushing for nonviolence in the world. As CEO, Dr. Bernice A. King has helped the center implement initiatives reaching over 500,000 people around the world. She holds a Doctorate of Law from Emory University, a Master of Divinity Degree from Candler School of Theology at Emory University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Spellman College. She served for seven years as an assistant pastor of Greater Rising Star Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA. She is seen as a global thought leader, strategist and peace advocate, and is continuing the legacy of her parents through her advocacy.
The “Home is Where the Heart Is Faith Partners Luncheon” will take place on March 9, 2027 and will feature Dr. Bernice A. King and a discussion with CEO of Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity, Brandon Price.
Registration is free for the film screening but required as seating will be limited. The fundraiser luncheon is a ticketed event. Those interested in attending both will need two separate tickets. A limited number of tickets for both will be available beginning Nov. 1 through TicketMaster. The link will be open on the Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity website soon. Sponsorship opportunities are also currently available. For updates about the event, and for more information, visit www.fayettevillenchabitat.org.
